We arrived at Shorncliffe early and thus wandered up the pier to see what we could see.

Thanks Jane :) See now if you could have dragged your Mum out this morning, you could have seen it in person ;-)

    Excellent shot. Good stuff :)

BTW, you missed the dude in the fluro vest peeing off the pier.

Love the colours and the lighting. Great shot Dave. 10-20 lens?

Lol, ah the golden hour, or even earlier than that, I see a planet and some luvverly colours, look forward to seeing what else you took as well !
  • David de Groot said:
There was ? Yep, definitely missed him (probably a good thing really).

Sure is Warwick. All my lenses got a workout today (well except the kit lens, it stays at home).

Nah, no golden hour here - that's sodium vapour lighting on the pier. This was about 40 minutes before sun-up.
Plenty more to come, just need to sort through them, etc...

Lovely. Wish I was there. :-)

twas good :) Had some horizon cloud for the sun-up, but it added to it rather than detracted from it this time.

I like how relatively simple the scene is. No people or unneccessary objects cluttering up the photo. This here is some very nice work, Dave. =)
  • David de Groot said:
Thanks Rob - oddly enough at 5am in the morning, there aren't too many people wandering about - the odd fisherman, and a troupe of crazy photographers, that was about it.

    Ah, very nice Dave.

It was an excellent mornings effort, and very nice to meet you & your daughter. Looking forward to crossing paths again in the not too distant future @ another meetup!

@ David - Darn those crazy photographers... haha ;-)

Thanks, it was a good morning out. Nice turnout too - been a while since we've had a meetup that large.

Yeah, that's what drew me to it too.

    Indeed - 15 of them!

Dave: Would that 5am in the morning be different to 5am in the afternoon? :-P
  • petepothole said:
Some bodys out there fishing! Thats where I should be!
  • David de Groot said:
Yeah, gotta watch out for that sneaky afternoon version ! Apparently Uni students know it well.

Yep, there were fishermen about on the jetty - and big big ships on the horizon.

    Nice work David.

15 people at the meetup, that's impressive.
