Out for a light snack...

Took the new (to me) 30D out for a spin this afternoon and caught this Intermediate Egret catching a snack down at North Pine Dam.

Definitely noisier at ISO 400 than the 5DII, but still usable.

Why the 30D? what benefit does it bring to you? (apart from being a second body) sorry if this sounds like an interrogation :P

great clarity dave. ah so your 30D was used (?) it's good in infrared photography compared to my 40D.

Second body that's more robust than the 400D and has a similar interface to the 5DII. The smaller file size and crop factor don't do a great deal for me, but it's there if I need it.
Yep, second hand, but in good condition. Noticeably slower in operation than the 5DII, but it was a zero dollar changeover for me from the 400D, so it's all good :)
    Yeah it didn't do badly.

on looking at this piccie I would say the 30D is pretty good, my other half has the 20D, and whilst nowhere near the 5D its done him proud for a good few years

Only downside is the complete lack of resolution (compared to the 5DII), 8Mpxls just doesn't leave a lot of cropping room :P

hmmm, no not really but its not a bad " just in case " 2nd body to have, until you are so super rich and famous you can have 2 5D's : ))

Oh the plan for super-rich is 1 series bodies ;-)
Yeah a much nicer backup body than the 400D was, at least this one has a familiar interface with the rear wheel, etc.
