ah nice photo, did u use your nd 4 this?.... and did u auto focus for this one, if so were? lol..

nicely done david. i agree, what trickery did you employ to pull out a 1 second exposure in full sunlight?
  • David de Groot said:
Yep, ND-400 used on this one. Initially AF'd in the centre of the frame. f/8 on an ultra-wide gave enough DoF to cover everything from where I was set up.

    Nd-400 ftw!

ah ok , i have a nd 400, but i done the stupid thing of trying to clean it with lens cleaner, it left like big smudges on it??.. n then i read the case thing that is came in and it said don't use any lens cleaner on filter , so yer.. lol

I just use a tissue to clean my ND400. Not the most elegant way to clean it, but it seems to work.

Stunning shot Dave. Did you find the ND 400 desaturated the colour a bit?
  • David de Groot said:
I use a Lens Pen on mine, seems to do the trick.
Not particularly Gareth. Usually the colour is a little more saturated than I ordinarily shoot due to slight underexposure. What I need is a polarising ND-400, as I can't stack both without vignetting.

How does the Lens Pen handle smudges? I normally use compressed air for dust and debris but if I accidently touch it I have to resport to wiping.

Real nice Dave. Ive just been shooting down in vic doing similar stuff but alas the stupid battery in jy remote control died so sifting through the "not so shaky" ones :-)
    Magic sky :-)

Incredible colors in the sky! Fine saturation :):
    Discovered using FlickrFox. (?)

ah OK..might have to get one of them.. hey do ND filters have a purplish tinge to it , mine dose, i don't know if that normal or not ???

beautiful David - sharp & the colour is special
  • David de Groot said:
    Thanks :)
Fairly well really, just remember to blow off any particles first.
No remote for this one, just pressed the shutter on the camera. The sky wasn't bad, lots of cloud movement, and on two layers too.
    Thanks :)
Nah, the Hoya ND filters are all nicely neutral. The Cokin's tend to be a somewhat purple, even more so when stacked.
Thanks Kat :) Not bad for a middle of the day shot.
