Jono on Blue

My FlashZebra optical slave and hotshoe turned up today in the post, so I felt the need to test it out this evening.

I placed a Rosco Vivid Blue gel over the Canon 188A Speedlite and positioned it on a chair against the wall.

Then setup the light stand with the Vivitar 285HV on 1/16th power to camera right, behind me and forming about a 60 degree camera-subject angle.

I then grabbed the nearest child not doing anything and held a large white polystyrene reflector close to his head and shot away.

The only downside is the 188A seems to need to be turned off and on between shots (the optical trigger obviously doesn't quite agree with it).

I really should have setup the umbrella to soften the shadows a bit, but got lazy as I was really only testing the optical slave.

Oh Jono is very good at that expression, it seems to grace his dial quite a bit ;-)

Great picky David...I used to have a 188A flash but the base broke and they could not fix it

Not bad for a couple of minutes farting about eh ?

If you still had the 188A, you might be able to solder on a 1/8th inch stereo socket instead of the shoe foot, and then you could use it with various studio radio triggers ;-)

That's what you get when you grab a child from a poorly lit room and then blast a flash at him before he has a chance to react ;-)
