I won !

It turns out I won the Esk "Valley of the Lakes" photo comp.

Neat eh ?

My photo now features on the cover of the Shire's Business Directory/Brochure. Apparently I'll be in their local newspaper next week (I must say, I prefer being behind the camera).

Excuse the crap montage, just needed to put something up ;-)

I remember when i won my first comp and got published (only on the back cover of the school magazine though)

    Seen on photography-on-the.net (?)
  • David de Groot said:
Not my first comp. win as such, just the first substantial one. I won the Samford Show prize the year before last (one category only).
  • David de Groot said:
And there's a mug shot of me and the other winner that Kara took with my camera.

Well done Dave. It certainly is well deserved.
  • David de Groot said:
Ah well I reckon I've now sold said dive to someone with more money than sense ;-)

I dunno, Aleks does thump around the house like a little elephant, and Jono can laugh like a hyena....

Thanks Warwick :) I'm quite pleased with myself at the moment.

  • leadegroot said:
No, dear. The rate was actually far too low.
You need more clients paying a good rate :)
(Not that I'm turning the prize down or anything silly like that!)

    Congratulations mate!
Do the sky dive at Coolum & I'll come & watch you jump out of a perfectly good aeroplane!
  • The Sage of Shadowdale said:
I know everybody else has said it already but congrats mate. You've set the bar height now - you've certain standards to live up to with each shot now. ;-)
    Seen in some comments. (?)
  • David de Groot said:
ha ha, no a mate of mine is going to be doing the jump as I don't feel the need to jump from a perfectly good aeroplane.

Argh! The pressure! ;-) Probably just mean more mess on the cutting room floor...
  • heidi_K said:

Bit late, but many congratulations! :)

I'd loved the tandem jump if I was over there (I've done a charity static line jump years ago), but all the best to your mate - hope he doesn't turn into a flatmate!

It's a shame they used your photo in a portrait format (or did it extend to the back cover?).
  • David de Groot said:
Thanks Tim, yeah it was a bit of a bummer about the crop, but hey, it's still pretty ;-) No it didn't extend to the back cover.
  • suburbanvoodoo said:
