Ah, well I saw one of those later in the day while 4wding on Mt Mee. We didn't stop to shoot it though.
  • James Lagden said:
Didn't have your rifle with you?
  • David de Groot said:
No bullbar to strap it to either :P
  • Cobra_11 said:
Absolutely gorgeous! What more could I want? A little cottage right next to that tree on the left :-)
  • Panorama Paul said:
Cup of steaming hot coffee perhaps? :)
Nice one Dave... I haven't been on a dawn shoot in ages... I always prefer the early morning light to the late afternoon light... it's just so damn difficult to get me out of bed before sunrise!! :)
  • Panorama Paul said:
Heavens... I wouldn't know what to do with a kangaroo... except to tie it down... sport! :)
  • looby88 said:
its a lovely image, with or without a roo !
Having discussed the merits of early starts with you a long while ago I still cant get the significant other out of bed !!
  • David de Groot said:
Actually, there was a cottage not far from there ;-)
Oh likewise Paul - really hard to get out of bed, so I try to make sure someone else comes along, then I have a reason to drag myself out ;-)
As for a kangaroo - they're good eating!
  • David de Groot said:
I could probably photoshop one in ;-)
  • looby88 said:
roo cottage pie, roo steaks, roo bolognese...
roo and custard ( different )
  • aramisfirefly said:
Ha love the poles, really add a lot to the shot!
  • David de Groot said:
Can you get roo over there Helen ?
    'twas the obvious composition ;-)
  • James Lagden said:

I love the power poles all sticky up at different angles...very comical (maybe it's just my warped sense of humor). Fantastic image.
  • SkattyKat said:
lol no Evan - the power poles hit me in the face when first viewed too :-)
    Love it Dave ...
  • David de Groot said:
    Thanks :)
It's so very "country Australia" with the wonky power poles.
You'd best see a doctor about that Kath - power poles are hard! ;-)

    Very nice morning scene!

This is great dave, makes me wanna get out early to shoot some of this stuff, but no idea where to go :(
  • David de Groot said:
Thanks - 'twas a productive morning.
Pop over the range towards Wivenhoe, Somerset or even down to Lake Moogerah. You'll need to get there about 1/2hr to 45mins before the scheduled sunrise, and it pays to scope it out in the daytime beforehand.

Id ask for a coffee I think.
    Love the light.

Yeah I like this. Stop and boil the billy I reckon.
Maybe a bullbar would be a good investment before you take your new wheels west... I did some damage to the (government) X-trail out near Jundah - only a small roo too...

    Thanks Brad :)
hoifaileung - Thanks, 'tis a nice area in the early morning.
Aye, I guess a warm beverage would have gone down well. ;-)
I reckon so Greg, I've already determined that the ABS works well in avoiding one near suicidal roo.

Love the powerpoles. Good to see your out shooting dawns.
  • David de Groot said:
Aye it's a rare thing that I get up for a dawn, but it's definitely worth it.

On a bit of a roll Kath - but now I need to go shoot some more as the rest from that session are either too similar or not as strong.
  • SkattyKat said:
lol a meet up Dave maybe (to make you get out of bed hehe)

Very nicely composed, especially considering the hour.A beautiful result.
I don't think I could push a shutter button that early.

What a well-balanced photo. Good geometry makes a good photo, but a great photographer makes it a great photo. I think the fact that the poles are all leaning in their own direction adds so much to this photo. Kind of gives it a "man is not perfect while nature is" vibe. Dig it.
  • David de Groot said:
    That's usually what's required ;-)
The hardest part is actually getting out of bed, after that, it's all pretty easy ;-)
Thanks! Yeah the poles really spoke to me at the time.
