I was forced to by Lea !

    Evidently ;-)

No-one's made mention of the twisted 80's lyrics reference though.

Have you figured out if these are producers or destined for the bbq?
  • David de Groot said:
Not yet - any helpful tips appreciated :)

I would imagine that Greg would be your best resource for gender identification : )

Started out, just eatin' eggs... didn't know how or why or what we were doin' there... just a couple more, make us feel a little fatter... believe me when I tell you that I don't like eating the feathers...

I'd have to be mental as anything to mention cheesy '80s song lyrics.

Hmmm, good point... just need to drag him down here at some stage ;-)

this one looks mean, so I reckon its a male!! It just doesnt have the look of a broody hen !!

Actually unless you know what you are doing its very difficult to tell what you have, the cock birds can hold their tails a little higher, get their feathers later and at about 3 months some can start to crow - and chase their sisters around !! In some breeds the colours of the birds differ according to their sex, but its not likely that you will have that sort of breed !! Wait and see time !

Oh, they all look mean. Sometimes I look at them and have flashbacks to the raptors in Jurassic Park. I can absolutely see where the monster makers got their inspiration!

As for the chicken sexing - I figure we'll know when we see eggs in the morning that we have at least one hen :)

They're funny things. Quite inquisitive, somewhat boisterous on occasion too. Mind you, they live in a cardboard box with one side cut out and covered in chicken wire, so it's no surprise. I'm hoping we have at least one hen, it'd be a bugger to have three roosters.

wonderfully tight focus (such detail on the head) which also makes the fluff seem even fluffier ;o)

You wouldn't even know it was shot through chook-wire eh ? :)

Great shot, Dave! Does the lighting bother him/her (have you found out the gender yet?)
  • David de Groot said:
Didn't seem to bother them, and I'm pretty sure they're all female. :) They've also grown somewhat.
