Lovely David, I know just where you where its a great spot right there with the weed grass things as a foreground subject, I've done the walk from South-Bank right along to the Story bridge a few times lots of good places to shoot from.
Lovely colors from your new 5D2 great work

Nicely done. The reeds in the foreground make the shot more interesting. I like the cloudage too.
Been a while since I saw a Kanga Point shot from you. :-)

Nice framing David, love the grass and clouds...ssssssssssss. It's exactly the place I ended up with Lance when we separated from our Southbank meetup some months ago.
Seen on my Flickr home page. (?)

I think this is nice Dave - a very good City shot and a little different - clouds are cool and the grass adds interest.

It looks like a crystal clear night, it looks beautiful.

I've geotagged it, so I'm not surprised you know where it was taken :P Seriously though, it's not a bad spot and the grass tufts were just begging to be included.
I was out scouting for locations for a shoot in a couple of weeks, but this one won't do for some technical reasons, however, I was there so made the most of it between getting rained on.
I'm not surprised Garry, it's a decent little spot. I've not really shot the city from the base of the cliffs before, always having opted to shoot from the top.

Thanks Mitchell, would have been nicer still if the weather played ball (either clear western skies so I got coloured clouds, or less clouds so I got blue hour goodness).
Thanks Matt. Almost called Kane on the way over there figuring he might be in the area, but I'd have had to call while in traffic, so opted not to.
5 minutes later I had to pack up as I was getting seriously rained on.

Great shot David, I love the colour in the water and the rushing clouds.
    Well done :-)
  • David de Groot said:
Thanks Simon. I was lucky with the cloud direction in that it was pretty much going overhead across the city.

    Nice Dave.
I remember you telling me a year ago that you had not done a KP on a week night... trust you to wait until u have the gear for it!
  • David de Groot said:
    Thanks :) We do indeed.
You're right Kane, this is the first time I've shot the city on a week night. 'twas worth it despite the rain.

Really thought this was a top shot, its got the city, nice cloudy sky's, great reflection on the calm water and the grasses in the foreground.
    That's all you need, excellent.

Great colours in this shot, Dave.
Excellent comp - I particuarly like the grasses on the RHS.
    Good work. :)
  • David de Groot said:
Thanks :) Tried a couple of other spots first up before spotting this one while sheltering from the rain, which luckily passed and let me get some reasonable shots in before it came back.
    Thanks Tim :)
    Thanks Rap.
The grasses are what drew me to this spot - for sure :)

Very nice - it mightn't have the 'blue hour goodness' but it's got great colour and reflection and those tufts of grass give the foreground some interest as well. Great shot!

Thanks Michelle, it came out alright given the conditions ;-)
    Thanks :)
With soooo many shots shots of the Brisbane skyline, you have to hunt around for these little spots that are a little bit different.
