
Not the best shot since I don't have a long telephoto lens yet, but not bad given the failing light and dark bird. :)
I used the AI Servo AF mode to track him in flight. Overcast skies after dusk led to strong white backlighting and inevitably some CA, but I'm still fairly happy with it.
I shot this from our veranda, with the 50mm f/1.8 lens.

An interesting Silhouette Dave.
A flash may have helped here (distance might have spoiled it), but I was hoping the f/1.8 aperture might have done the trick, and on a bright monitor (like on a Mac) it's pretty close - the yellow portions show up and feather detail on the wing.
Of course had it been a little brighter outside it would have been a ripper of a shot (a longer lens would have helped in that instance too), but the black cockatoos don't seem to hang around much during the day, only the early mornings and around dusk.
