Wivenhoe Dam - Panorama

180 degree panorama (9 exposures @ 18mm) taken from below the waterline when full.

You can clearly see where the water should be, as opposed to where it is. This is from the picnic ground not far from the dam wall, other areas of the dam are dry and grassed over.

The far right of this picture is looking SE, while the far left is looking NW.

Thanks :) AutoStitch does a bang-up job of stitching shots together.

Go on Maria, you've wet your toes with HDR, you might as well upload your stitched shots too :)

noice ... what are you using to stitch
  • David de Groot said:
AutoStitch, a little free utility from a guy in Canada.

It does a wonderful job most of the time, only quirk I've found is that if you want to do a vertical panorama, you need to tell it to rotate the images 90 degrees, and then rotate the resultant pano back afterwards.

It's the exact same engine that's behind products like AutoPano Pro, which I think Shaun uses. The interface on this one isn't as polished as the commercial offerings, but you can't argue with the price ;-)

actually have it sitting here but ran out of memory when I went toi use it .. will try it on a section

You can tweak the memory usage in the settings. I have a 1Gb of RAM in my PC, and tell AutoStitch to use either 0.25Gb or 0.5Gb and it seems to cope ok - takes a while on the big shots, but seems to handle full size 10Mpx images reasonably well.
