I would understand it means something like IS THERE A LIFE BEFORE DEATH? Death is just a transition from one place to another.
Gives it a whole different meaning, doesn't it.

Oh, btw; could you explain the difference of lol and LOL? I don't dare asking somebody else, I always thought it was 'just' laughed out loud when written 'lol' - but could it not also mean LOTS OF LOVE...??? Or am I being 'too deep'.... ;-)

It's possible Kiki, after all I am not religious in any way and it's obvious that this is a religious epitaph, so I probably did miss the meaning.
Although I can see now what they might have been trying to say.
As for lol/LOL I reckon it's the same thing - i.e. laugh out loud. Capitols tend to lend more emphasis though.
