brave little birds !
David de Groot said: Tough job too, damn little fellows were going ape flitting about the snake passing through "their" territory. Oh, and it's really dark (from a camera's perspective) in the rainforest. I did notice they kept out of striking range, but definitely made it very known that the snake was not welcome.

yes, i think you got the bird in a nice pose too
I also like the detail in the branch / trunk next to it
David de Groot said: I'm going to have to spend some time down there at some stage in order to get used to the conditions in a dense rainforest, and hopefully get some nice detail shots of not just birds and animals. :)

perfect pose...love these little guys! Flutter around everywhere. Wouldn't have been an easy catch!
David de Groot said: Thanks, definitely not easy - was quite dark in the forest, unexpectedly so, and my first few images all sucked because of it. This one came out though.

I agree! Esp when working with flash even more so i'd assume. Can't wait to get myself a speedlight and a long lens!
David de Groot said: Thanks :) Aye, you can get odd double images with flash unless you know what you're doing.

I'm still envious of that lens! Maybe I should've gotten one of those instead of an 85mm f/1.8 (I haven't had much time for photography recently, but I'm going to New Zealand in a few weeks, which means new lens!).

nice one.
David de Groot said: It is a sweet lens, I just wish it had a bigger aperture ;-) and IS. :) Thanks!

Nice clear shot of this species Dave
I still haven't managed one I like. O"Reilies is snake heaven. Its been a while but I have seen a death adder and a tiger snake (maybe) here. Plus lots of pythons
David de Groot said: I need to get back there for a few days methinks and try to come to terms with a better way to shoot in those conditions. 'tis a tough challenge and I am constantly in awe of the photographers and film crew in David Attenborough specials.
