One of them looks ready to charge! Great shot.
David de Groot said: Quite likely, or at least trying to look threatening.

The babies are growing up. What wonderful subjects you have here.
David de Groot said: Indeed they are. This is a different brood to the last lot, but same variety. Still, all the ducklings I've seen of late seem to be about this size, so I guess they hatch at roughly the same time in this part of Queensland.

I feed a variety of ducks most mornings at Minnippi to de-stress before work. I've noticed this type of duck is quite skittish, but I do like to favour them -- helping them get to the food by distracting the more aggressive waterfowl.
Lovely shot.
David de Groot said: Skittish is definitely a good description of them. I've managed to get quite close to Pacific Black Ducks, but these Australian Wood Ducks are very much on the skittish and wary side of things.

How gorgeous, were you very far away? A great shot as I like how they stand out against all the grass :-)
David de Groot said: This is cropped down a fair bit as I was somewhere between 4 and 6 m away from them.
