I took a wander into the forest and found this little guy and his harem chirping away on a pile of dried weeds.

    They're very handy (the lens, not the bird, although I'm sure they fill an ecological niche). ;-) Alas, your choices in the Nikon world are expensive (no relatively cheap 400mm prime in the Niklkor range).

    Definitely. On the same morning I also saw Superb and Red-backed Fairy-wrens.
    Well first you hear them, and then you look out for movement or the splash of colour of the males.

    Thanks Kath :) I want to get some camo netting at some stage, take a folding chair and tripod, through the netting over me and see if I can get one closer than that.
