I went to take the dogs out tonight, only to find Rosie sniffing something on the stairs. After seeing what it was, I chuffed her downstairs as quickly as possible and then called for my camera.
We managed to get the dogs back inside with the aid of a broom, but this snake wasn't going anywhere (hanging on tight to the stair supports methinks).
So I figured I'd grab the macro lens and see if I could get some footage. Apparently with the hood on the lens, it resembles something very interesting to carpet snakes, as he decided to have a very close look (the part of the film I've trimmed off was when his head was inside the hood and thus too close to focus on).
Apologies for the grainy, shaky video, hand-held at iso 6400.

very nice...love the nose poking through the Point of focus
The carpet snake was attracted to the carpet (baffling) inside the lens hood. :-)
I totally thought you were going to do a grab of a snake jumping into the screen haha!
Nice! No more possum playtime in your roof? :P
The rats in the under-house area, I'd say are dwindling somewhat (yay!) I noticed Mr Snake here seems to have a rat sized lump in his belly this morning (he's perched above the hot water system at the moment).
Sounds like it'd be a sound investment David...can only get better i say the more stuff you add to your collection!
