I like the angle in this shot. It's simple yet there's a lot going on. The contrast of smooth + barbed metals and then the fragility of the spider's web (or lint??).

I prefer the other one David de Groot, but then again this one does have better detail.

Yes, the details are much better on this one but I prefer the composition of the other one. Great work David, I love barbed wire photos too!!

I think it was a spiders web Melissa. Yet again, I didn't notice that at the time.
Thanks Maria :) I'm quite partial to a good barbed wire shot myself ;)
I agree Tim, I wanted the detail in this one on the other one and then it'd be just perfect, but I guess this is one of the rare times I might have used spot metering if I had it.
Thanks Jill :) I've come to the same conclusion now that I've had time to reflect on them.

David do you bracket your exposures?

I prefer this one I think, though maybe if you had done this in portrait style as well.
The other is a little too kinda backlit for me, doesn't work as well.
Just my opinion for what it's worth. :-)

Nope Tim, just took a punt and shot it. Didn't even check the LCD afterwards (somewhat glary).
Yep, the backlighting on the other one is a bit of a sticking point, but I like the composition better. Thanks Cecily.

It's definitely interesting to see how roughly even the spread is between each shot.
