Transparent Moth

This is a much better shot of the Transparent Moth I saw on our window this morning. This one is taken with the S2 IS using it's SuperMacro mode.

Very ethereal. In this shot I really get the feeling it's floating in space.

On the subject of macros and improvisation, that fisheye you commented on was part of a kit. You can buy them with a macro lens, like a filter, that you can either use with the fisheye or just your regular lens. It appears to be a less expensive venture than a complete new lens - it's my next experiment so I'll let you know how it works.

Would that be a set of extension tubes ? Canon make a couple and Kenko also make a set (14mm, 25mm and 36mm extensions I think from memory). The EF-S 60mm Macro comes in at about $590 (Au) and the Kenko set somewhere around $260 (Au) I think.
Tempting, sure, but both out of budget right now.

Not extension tubes. Something much less $$. I'll flickmail you a link to something. Maybe it's not too late for you to put this on your holiday list? : )

I've not seen one of these before ... well, not his close up at least.
dang, I wish I still had a macro lens. :(

Hey I wish I had a macro lens period ;-) The only lens with macro abilities I have is an old Tokina FD mount 28-200 which of course won't work with the EOS. However, the S2 IS has a most excellent SuperMacro mode for things you can physically get close to.
