The local swimming hole

This is about 1.6 kms down the road from home. It's the main swimming hole in Cedar Creek now that the falls have been shut for public access.

As you can see the water levels are down somewhat from where they should be.

You really live in a beautiful place! About 10 miles from my house is lots and lots of dirt...sprinkled with cactus.
  • David de Groot said:
Thanks Mark :) I'd have to drive at least 6 hours west to find desert, possibly further actually. Lots of dry pasture land between here and there.
  • looby88 said:
no nasties in here at all then, not even leeches ? a really lovely place
  • David de Groot said:
Well I can't guarantee a lack of leeches. I haven't personally seen any recently, mozzies on the other hand decided to check me out while taking the shot.
  • looby88 said:
I do object to being lunch for mozzies ! that is not my purpose in life !!
  • David de Groot said:
I think they only come out around dusk - i.e. they wouldn't be there in the heat of the day. :)
  • looby88 said:
Lol !! neither would I be in your heat - unless sat in this water- is it deep- I dont do swimming, I can float or sink quite nicely, I'm equally good at both !! I tend to prefer the former : l
  • David de Groot said:
Deep in parts, shallow in other parts, with a nice little cascade that feeds it (that "Cascade" photo is part of the feeder stream).

Yes, sinking is not recommended. :)

Mr. de Groot... I like this swimming- hole shot a lot ( one does not hear that term very often!!) and I am impressed with your knowledge of the Morrison tartan... you must have some Scottish blood !!
  • David de Groot said:
    Thanks Bev :)

Yep, my mother's maternal side were Morrisons (Irish) and her paternal side Roses (Scottish). :) I have a Rose tartan kilt myself.
