Pedro wanted a few posed shots of Kate with some of her artwork, so I tagged along and fired off about 8 or 9 shots to see what I could come up with.
For this one, I've added a strong vignette and left it in B&W.

great BW shot & vignette effect!
In case I haven't told you, you're so good at portrait shots!! ;-)
:-) Really I'm not, I just shoot what I see. Mind you, flickr meets do give one plenty of opportunity to practice!
believe me, you are!!!
That is a really great shot. I like the vignetting too - it well reflects the portrait behind.
This was one of the shots I was taking while squatting down low Rachel.
I can see why people who shoot in these conditions would spend the money on that 50 f/1.2 now though. ;)
I haven't liked a photo of myself for about 10 years, until this one. Well done, you've achieved the impossible!
Wow thanks Kate :) My goal when shooting portraits, is to take one that the subject likes, and usually I find that takes quite a few goes, esp. since I tend towards a more photojournalistic style. I'm quite chuffed now :)
It is a great portrait.
Thanks Gayle :)
