Tali

Brisbane Meetup - Kurwongbah model shoot.

Although the grafitti didn't do a lot for me, we shot a couple of scenes against it anyway, here's Tali striking a pose.

Strobist: 1 580exII on camera, 1 580exII held by VAL (Thea) for hair/back light. Ratio 1:8, high speed sync mode on.

Nice ! The multiple flash thing was all new for me today this combo has worked really nice love that hair light & no shadows on the wall either :-)

Worked a treat hey ? Bare flash has it's uses.

Ah, that's the one you showed me on the back of the camera. I like this one, great lighting set up as usual Dave.

    Don't you mean bare flesh?

Did you use the focus & recompose method for these ?
  • David de Groot said:
Yep that's the one. eTTL worked well there.
No, I used the outermost focus point. f/2.2 is starting to get fairly narrow on the DoF side of things.

    nice lighting Dave -
the grafitti does nothing for me either ..

Thanks Kath. I have some non-graffiti shots lined up to go as well, not that portraits of women are necessarily up your alley... ;-)

lol Dave - true, but then its kinda neat to see what others are up to - I have no idea where to even start when it comes to shooting "people"

Photogenic people are a good start :P

Wow, Tali is tally isn't she. Graffiti has had it's day I think - especially for bikinis - very distracting unless two stops down and atmospheric. Railway lines are hanging in there, sheds are up & coming, abandoned buildings are dodging and weaving.
  • David de Groot said:
Ah, we'll have to do something about that then Kath!
    hahaha true, that helps.
Thanks Tim, I do think a hairlight used effectively can really make a portrait.
You're right Glen, not a big fan of the whole graffiti thing, but it was there, so we gave it a go.
