Sunset over Wivenhoe

We went to Wivenhoe Outlook on Mt Glorious yesterday arvo to see if we could see Comet McNaught.

Whether it was the haze, clouds, or trees, no comet was forthcoming, but we did get some decent sunset shots. Here's one taken fairly early on in the session.

This one has now appeared in Explore too, 19th Jan 2007 - #389

Maybe you didn't wait long enough or didn't look in the right direction. It was very visible last night in Sydney way above the haze.

You might be right Joan, but I think the clouds that came over about 20mins after sunset were probably the issue.

If it's fine tonight we're going to try a different location.

    Thanks Kev :)

It's one of the few times I've watched a full sunset and had the camera ready Mark.

Thanks Margot - I might not have got the comet that night, but this makes up for it :)

    Hi Helen! Thanks!

Beautiful image, David. Our landscapes are a bit snow covered these days and the warmth you've got here really comes through.

Thanks Mike :) It was probably warm by your standards, but Lea had a jumper on by this stage ;-)

(I only had a jumper on because the wind was picking up a bit. Dave was fine becuase he was all excited over comet hunting and never feels the cold anyway. :-P Didn't need a cardie last night at Cootha)

You can see Wivenhoe Dam in the middle. That's the main water supply for Brisbane and is currently at about 22% capacity.
