On the way home from an afternoon trip in search of storms, I stopped at the Western Window lookout on Mt Glorious at Sunset to catch these shrouded, layered mountains and pastel coloured sky.
The Sun was setting off-frame to the right, and was approaching blood red due to the smoke. I managed to shoot it a bit further down the road through the trees, but the camera wasn't able to record the colour as I saw it (presumably due to the intensity of the sun).

beautiful David - I always love this soft layered effect.
Very different to what you were looking for though :-)
I didnt realise there were storms predicted for today
Excellent shot David... I love the soft pastel tones and the layering of those hills... especially the three on the extreme right!
Dreamland?
You will become quiet here.
Good shot, love it.
A beautiful sky, I can see why you stopped for this. Lovely hazy layers and pastel tones, David.
They look so nice!
quite lovely,
we had plans to maybe go and see what was going to become of sunset, but afer the improptu morning dawn shoot we decided that we were too tired to go drivng anywhere yesterday evening!
you did well catching this one though
love it
Ahh...that's beautiful, David.
I also find it very difficult to capture the real color of the sky.
Wait...in search of storm?
I saw the nice colours today as well. Shame I was sitting at work, doing that working thing :)
EDIT: Oh wait, you said today.
for what my opinions worth.... I think its beautiful !
I was treated to a blood red sun a few minutes later down the road a bit.
Gorgeous, like a warm duvet!
Beautiful view,what great vision!
