Summer Snow

Above Thredbo in the Snowy Mountains, NSW, Australia.

The patch of snow on the left was a good 20cm thick at least and despite the ambient temperature being around 15 degrees or so, it does not melt. There are several such patches across the highlands above 1700m in elevation.

I had wanted to ride to the top of Kosinthis summer, but now it is too hot and the kids have "gone to America" as the Steel Eye Span song goes....

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/spelio] We didn't make it to the top of Kosi either unfortunately, but will next time I'm sure.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/philrettkephotography] Yes, tipped just over 40 here today too (41.3ยบ). Snow would have been welcome, or even just rain.
