Brisbane CBD.
Approx. 100 Students from High Schools across Brisbane gathered in town today for a protest against the Iraq War, Inaction dealing with Global Warming and to decry President George W. Bush as a Terrorist and unwanted in Australia.
The turnout was not as large as one might have expected given that students usually jump at the chance to skip out of school. The Year 12 students though were sitting their Core Skills tests today so that would account for lower numbers to some extent.
President Bush is currently in Sydney attending the APEC 2007 Summit.
The whole shoot is over here.

I wonder how many of them actually had a valid opinion on what they were protesting about? Or if they just saw it as an excuse to skip school?
Also, i like the number of police in the background. Wonder how many of the kids got done for truancy :P
At one stage I counted about 25 police officers scattered around the place. That's roughly a one in four ratio of police to protesters.
What makes me wonder is, how many year 12 students were they and in effect, skipping the second day of the QCS test?
Well it was a cold, rainy day. Not exactly the greatest high school protest weather!
Well it wasn't rainy while I was there. Sure, threatening rain, but no actual rain. Might have later in the day though.
