Butorides striata.
I went birding with Ross, James, Allen and Cath this morning at Bribie Island. We were assisting with a Birds Australia shorebird survey and managed to find several of the "wanted" birds, plus a few others not on the list.
This Striated Heron decided to take flight not too far from us and I managed to capture a few frames of it as it passed by.

So sharp and well timed, great shot. Love how they can fly with only inches between their wings and the water.
Great shot David, I like the hint of a reflection in the water. Beautifully sharp.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/samuelsharpe] They do fly impressively low, that's for sure.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/allan_nielsen] Now if only we had nice calm water, there would have been a reflection.
Beautifully Captured!!
