Stairway to the River

Taken on a lunchtime walk earlier in the month, but posted for the Staircases thread on The World Through My Eyes.

These stairs lead from someone's backyard down to the Brisbane river, presumably for the purposes of docking private boats.

Holy Cow! With only 16 views and 1 fav, this photo made it to #354 of Explore on Oct 20. (well according to scout)

Thanks Micky, I'd estimate by the age of the house above, that they'd have to be at least 80 or 90 years old, possibly older.

Maybe a geologist will pop by and tell us what they are eh ? (Tim ?)

Dont seem to see much of Tim at the moment, you have a lot of red rocks dont you- sandstone ? perhaps this is a tired old bit, feeling off colour !!

Hmm, could be pink sandstone. Doesn't look like pink granite. Not sure really. Might need to return and get a closer shot ;)

That it would ZenStation - well until the whole global warming sea level rise thing happens, then it might be a bit of a problem.

    Thanks Maggie!

probably we could add a couple of more steps before the door then ;-)

Wow, this is awesome - I'm finding all sorts of treasures in your steam! I love the feeling this picture gets from the focal length you chose - I've been into this sort of tight cropping in recent times so this one is really appealing. Nicely done!

    Thanks Chris :)

I do tend to take a lot of long focal length shots, and I've found a bit of cropping can really change the look of a shot.
