I've seen white, dirty and black sand before, but never with a colour like this. Love the shot, and love the upside-down yellow lady near the middle of the shell. :)

Great shot David... I love the blue and brown layers and of course... that gorgeous shell!! I might have framed it with the shell in the bottom left corner though... that way it's shadow would be in the image too (or did you do this deliberately to exclude the shadow?).

Yeah, brilliant shot this David. Great POV, nice DOF, beautiful & crisp. Very well done. Instant fave!

Late afternoon light, low angle, bit of a hit with the contrast adjustment, and voila, dark sand :)
Glad you like in Nic, and as such you've prompted me to upload it to RB. :)

Lovely. Nice colours, DOF and minimalism.
Were you wearing the Dr Martens boots at the time? :-)
  • David de Groot said:
You got it in one Paul, yes, framed to exclude the shadow. Partly due to necessity (my shadow was in the frame when the shell was on the left), and partly because I liked it this way.
Thanks :) Winter on the beach is totally different to the warmer months, much less life, different light.

Nah, the Doc's have been retired, I now have a pair of Ariat hiking boots which a) don't leak, b) seem to grip better.

I see you got dirty on that one Dave, quite a task I imagine to get it aligned, focused and without your own shadow...hold your breath and click

Nice, minimal! I struggle with this style...
  • David de Groot said:
    Thanks :)
I don't do a lot of minimal, but I should, as it's quite effective.
