No Greg, firmly on the ground - 560mm of focal length on a 400D (1.6x crop sensor), handheld and manually focussed. :)

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthewpost] I do like a good day out at an airshow, but Amberley kinda sucks due to the heat. It was easily 45 on the tarmac (reminded me of my childhood spent out there), and by 2pm I had a massive headache and heatstroke (despite drinking litres of water).

    Extraordinarily good work then Dave.
I've only been to one airshow. Caboolture, years ago. There were some photographers shooting from a scaffolding tower and one fell off. Seems he simply stepped backwards.... Landed flat on his back. I offered a bit of assistance - being a vet and all, but a doctor quickly turned up and then an ambulance and he was carted off. Never heard what happened to him. Fortunately his body hit the ground first and his camera was unhurt. This was pre-digital days. He had a big Nikon set-up with motor drive.

Nice picture. That inspired me to go back in the archives and post one of my a airshow pictures from 2006.

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/hojucandy] I've been to the Caboolture air show before (mid-90's) - twas a good day out. I recall driving over a paddock and through a storm water ditch in a Nissan Bluebird in order to get out (queues through the gate were horrendous).
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidvalentine] It's the clouds and lack of ground that does it :)
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/jameslagden] Danke - and a fine photo it is too!
