Reversed Lens Macro test

This is a dead flying ant - nothing particularly exciting but it was:

a) in the sun

b) dead and thus still

To take this shot I held our old Tokina FD mount 28-200mm f/3.5-5.3 lens reveresed onto the front of my Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens. The depth of field is so narrow as to be non-existent.

The EF 50mm was set to manual nearest focus, while the Tokina FD was set to 28mm. Focus was obtained by moving closer or further away from the subject.

Thanks Kev. The old Tokina lens isn't particularly fantastic glass, so the quality isn't there, but it was an interesting experiment all the same.

And yes, I shot it because it was already dead ;-)

Bit far gone for that Greg ;)

The underside of the head RH. Basically he was stuck to an upright on the veranda by his wings, head facing down and his little antennae pointing out at me.

Thanks Jill, the quality isn't there, so I'll be saving for that 60mm EF-S macro lens at some stage... after the long telephoto.
