Rainbow Lorikeets Nesting

There are now three trees next to the river that contain nesting Lorikeets. This pair quite happily posed for pictures.

Curiously the base of this tree (and the other two nesting trees) were wrapped in heavy clear plastic sheets. I can only presume this is to discourage possums from climbing these trees while the birds are nesting.

Wasn't too easy to take either. I had to zoom pretty much all the way in on the S2, even then they're not particularly clear.

Wonderful shot. Usually you can get fairly close, but they look a long way up.

Indeed they were Alexandra. I'm fairly bad at estimating heights, but I'd make a rough guess and say 15m up the tree.
