Very cool, this. A sort of Asian noir.

A first one and a great one! Very cool!
PS: My IP 23 was my first one as well...too intimidated to jump into the pool before last night...but noir is a favorite movie/book topic of mine.

Sharp sake. Very cool - love the visual themes.
David de Groot said: Thanks Greg. Yep, a slight variation on the theme. I was going to use the Rapier, but it was just too long.
Thanks Mark :) I really liked yours too (in fact I was going to do something very similar).
I must say, I'm quite happy with it Melissa :) It's one of the first composed pictures I've done where I had a picture in my head before picking up the camera and felt the end result was strong enough to stand on it's own without supporting description.
Thanks Horst.
I can see why Misteriddles goes in for this style Greg, it's just so fun to setup and shoot.
Yeah watch that first sip Mike ;-)

David de Groot said: Thanks Richard. It was fun to shoot. Given a few more props, I could have come up with several more that I had floating around in my head.

Hahaha...good thing I revisited this page. Your 'hai' made me laugh so loud, but I think my neighbors want to call the loony bin on me. (o^^o) Hmm...I wonder if they have Flickr access?
David de Groot said: :-) My Nipponese is quite limited I'm afraid Margot.

Hey, I like 'Nipponese' and I'm stealing it (with permission, of course)! (o^^o)
David de Groot said: hehehe :) I'm sure I've heard it before. I think pre-WWII Japan was generally known as Nippon, even to Westerners...

Nice image - makes you get in there and take a closer look!
David de Groot said: Thanks David :) 'twas fun to shoot. I've always been a sucker for a good film noir style movie (who couldn't like a Bogart film?), so this was my little tribute.
