Painted Surf

A relatively short long-exposure at Greenhill Beach. The exposure is just long enough to give the waves a painted look.

What I was most surprised about is how fast the tide comes in. Later in the evening when I was shooting 30 sec exposures (and longer), I had to be careful where I setup so I'd have an escape path as by the time the exposure was done the water was lapping my tripod. Not in this frame obviously.

Looks best large of course, but yeah, I was quite pleased with the "painted" look straight out of the camera.

A very beautiful shot David, this is quite stunning. Viewed large and was very impressed, l love the 'painted' look and you must be happy that you managed to attain that straight from the camera! :-)

Hey thanks Tracey :) Yes, it's always nice to get it right in-camera rather than having to try to make something in post. Needless to say, a tripod was essential as I can't hand-hold 2/5ths of a second ;-)

Nice one, particularly the combination of the sea and the little clouds in the distant.
