Osprey overhead

This osprey flew directly over us and I managed to track it well enough to get this shot. It is not cropped.

Nothing like some extra reach hey - great detail in the shot

Damn right, couldn't have got this as is with the 70-200, and you don't miss IS at all in these conditions as the shutter speed wide open at iso 500 is still 1/1000th or more.

Lovely exposure against the sky, Center weighted metering? I'm amazed at the detail of his wings there must have been a lot of light also reflecting back up onto his belly.

Spot metering actually. By keeping him in the middle of the frame, the camera metered for the shadow underneath and came up with a decent exposure. :)
