    Yeah, they're fairly loud. I shot both of them three times a day for two days.

    [https://www.flickr.com/photos/adamboltphotography] Most likely the wrapping on the charge. Typically they're a cardboard or cloth charge, wrapped in alfoil, so it could be charred remains of any of that.
