I went for a stroll through the botanic gardens today and played with fast shutter speed shots. While near the nearly refurbished second duck pond I saw this pacific black duck scratching itself and fired off a few shots.
This shot turned out pretty well.
There are more duck and bird shots to come, but I thought this one really needed posting straight away ;)

Hehehe! From a thumbnail it looks like it was drowning but now I realized this is a freeze shot of its quacking. Such a clever shot!
I wish it were quacking, but not a sound did it make (except for splash!). For some reason, when it scratched it's head it opened it mouth at the same time.
Very cute. I wonder why it opened it's mouth when scratching

Seen in my contacts' photos. (?)
Maybe scratching felt that good. (o^.^o)
Very funny - looks like it is rather miffed and angry about something.
Not sure Alexandra, but it made for some fun photography :) I'm thinking it might need a tighter crop for more impact...
Quite likely Margot :)
David, it reminds me greatly of Daffy Duck (thus the title).
