North Pine Dam

Comparison between Dec 20th 2008 and April 17th 2009.

Easter rains made a huge difference to the levels in this Dam. On the Thur before Easter, levels were at approx 55%, on the Tue after Easter it was approx 71% full, and it shows!

This is from the little cemetery on Gold Scrub Lane. Quite impressed by the amount of water. Heaps of birds about too (need a longer lens, or waders). I think I also saw a black snake slithering off towards the water (in search of frogs I presume).

Not that I've seen. Wild dogs are more of an issue, but mostly down in the valley.

Looks good. We need this type of rain in central and southern NSW.
  • David de Groot said:
Yeah, rain's needed all over the country with the exception of FNQ, the Sunshine and Gold Coasts and Northern NSW.
Despite this dam having a big jump, Wivenhoe, west of Brisbane needs more, and Toowoomba (1.5 hours west) is down to 10% in their dams.

I was down there this morning, i was a bit late as the sun had just popped up over the hills and the wildlife were keeping there distance. I would like to get there with a nice mist over the water just before sunrise
