great now I've started yawning...i hate how contagious it is! but i like this photo so it all evens out :)

Luckily for all of us, there was a very thick piece of glass between her and the people.
    Thanks :)
Indeed - actually the lionesses were quite active (in bouts), but not too active (unlike the darned tiger that wouldn't stand still).
hahaha Yes, it's odd how yawning is contagious, even discussing it can set it off.

With regards to the glass, its great unless they have slobbered on it- or worse
watched something on the tv the other day where a silverback gorilla got cross with his audience. He ran up to the glass and thumped it- it cracked the whole pane. I think I would have legged it pretty quick !!

looby - something similar happened when I was at taronga zoo...it was pretty scary to see this gorilla lauch himself at the glass so I got out of there...and watched from the other side where it was actually pretty amusing :)
  • David de Groot said:
Well the glass was fairly grubby - mostly from people though - I cleaned sections with a paper serviette :) The gorilla was very lazy on the day we were there, and I don't think the lions could have had the same impact ;-)
The gorilla just lounged about when we eventually got to it.

oooh, they are strong animals, I seem to remember they smell pretty strong too!
Mind you Bison take some beating, I still enjoy a visit to the zoo, best in winter, less crowds, more animal action- well usually.
Shame the gorilla was feeling lazy, praps he'd learnt his lesson !

Tell me, have you seen The Company of Wolves?
Little girls, this seems to say,
    never stop upon your way,
    never trust a stranger friend,
no-one knows how it will end!
As you're pretty, so be wise!
Wolves may lurk in every guise!
Now, as then, it's simple truth,
    sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth!
and the other great quote is "My. What a big tongue you have!"
