85L, a great lens for birding...
Nice work to balance the light, and not loose any detail in his feathers

Sure is a nice lens great afternoon light too, I'd be interested to see if the 85 is any good at macro stuff with some tubes such good glass it might pull some good detail.

a masked lapwing you say, does look kind of furtive !
I would never have thought it was a lapwing- if I'd been asked, because it doesnt look much like ours I guess !
reading on my yahoo news ( I prefer to read my news rather than watch it- and at the moment its still free ! ) Its been so hot in parts of Australia - like 34 C at midnight, oh boy !
Much of the snow has melted in my garden - YEAH !!! Its just sooo dull and grey, looking forward to the spring and some golden hours of my own

Thanks Danny :) I had the 85 on and happened across a pair of these guys fairly close, so gave it a go.
Usually a wee short for birding ;-)
Good question - haven't got any tubes to try it.
    hahaha cheeky bugger :P
    ;-)
I'd not be surprised - they have a habit of attacking golfers too.
Also known as a Spurwinged Plover. Looks nothing like your plovers either ;-)
Yeah uncomfortably warm here of late, but not as bad as what you saw in the news, that was down in Adelaide.
