Like most small birds around here, they prefer tall grass and thick bushes to hide in, but they come out to feed on grass seeds and the like.
Thanks Ross :) That barbed wire provided a handy, and rustic, perch.
Yep - this is somewhat cropped too.
D'Oh! I did fairly well, all things considered, and was happy to see a spoonbill (something I'd not encountered in the wild before).
Almost the same thing isn't it ? ;-)
Thanks :) These birds were flitting everywhere, so it was good to catch this little moment.
We like the challenge Kath :) Or maybe it's just the hunter instinct coming through...
Didn't turn out half bad eh ? :)
Which is a lot more than the warmth at the time ;-) Actually it wasn't too bad, but I was wearing two shirts...
And you did well too :)
    Thanks :)
    Ah could be indeed ;-)
Thanks Rodel - yes it is indeed :)
    Thanks!
    Thanks for the notice :)
    Thanks Geoff :)
Who says winters is dull for animals eh ? ;-)

Beautiful shot and perfect timing. Ok, they could have picked a better support for their loving moment than barbed wire, but it adds some excentricity to the scene ;)
