Lorikeet in a tree

Taken in Manly West, Brisbane, Qld, Australia.

Trichoglossus haematodus

Friends of ours live at Manly West and their neighbours have a bird feeder on the adjoining fence. Everyday a large flock of lorikeets swarm down on the feeder for free food. This was one of those very same birds, waiting in a nearby bush.

Gorgeous colours. What a treat to have these locally.

    Thanks :)

I've been meaning to put some bird-feeders up at home to attract a few of the local birds down to a more easily photographed spot (not so easy to get at the top of a tall gum tree). Eventually I'll get around to doing so.
