Mucking about this evening trying out posing and lighting techniques when I got this. Not posed, and the hair-light is too bright, but the pick of the bunch.
Strobist: Vivitar 285HV @ 1.4 power into Silver umbrella camera left, high. Nikon SB-26 at 1/32 power aimed at large silver reflector (positioned camera left between umbrella and camera) for fill. Nikon SB-600 at 1/64th power on bookshelf camera left for hair light.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Now this it mrs??????????? :-)
My goodness. A picture of Lea was the last thing I expected from you.
First she lets you buy a lens; now she's letting you post pictures of her?
What's next? Another Studebaker? :-)
In case Lea sees this, I'm not at all suggesting that you buy something else expensive. Kids' education, mortgage, etc., come first.
Assuming Lea doesn't see this, then let's go SHOPPING.
Lea always knew that she was the pick of the bunch though- or at least I hope she does !!
Hey! You published it!
I didn't think it would come out good enough
(I'm the bad sort of model "Are we done yet?" ... "Are we done yet?" :g:)
But I think we could use some more coffee cups, eh, honey? :runs away: (family in-joke)
Oh cool, a beautiful portrait of Lea! You rule, Mrs. de Groot! Love your long, straight and shiny hair.
David, you're so good with lighting.
Danke :)
I didn't think it was good enough to publish, but obviously Dave thinks it is. But he does seem to be blind to my flaws ;)
Kara says I am squinting :( But what would she know? :)
I think it's a really lovely shot!!!
Hi Lea! You are beautiful... and don't take any notice of what your daughter says!!! :)
I really like the chosen background too... the assorted colours and lines that the books and shelves create is a nice contrast somehow... not quite sure of the technical language here, but I like it. It looks 'right'. :)
I'll be impressed if anyone can identify the books :)
Mate I've got 20/20 vision and even at full size I couldn't make any out, Lea... but my guess is science fiction novels...
Well, I recognise them because they are my books just from the colour scheme - as any true fanatic would ;)
Yes, that wall is the F&SF collection :)
Clearly beside my head is the collected works of Barbara Hambly.
