I ventured into a narrow tunnel that leads to a gun slit on the side of the fort. The late afternoon sun was coming through the slit and I just had to make use of it.
I positioned Kara to just get some nice sun backlighting and then added a snooted gridded 580exII on a stand camera left and about half the distance from me to her. Power setting might have been around 1/64th from memory.
Of course Allan spotted what I was up to and took the same shot with Jeff's 85/1.2L, which gave a brighter shot, but with a dreamier softness surrounding.

Awesome light focus on her face. Very well done.
What the heck is a "snooted grided" 580exii (I know what the 580exii is :D )
It's a lovely shot.
Great lighting and pose. You made excellent use of your surrounds.
very nice, looks a little like mine ;). The 85mm 1.2 is an awesome lens and creates such beautiful bokeh. Here is the link to mine if people are interested: www.flickr.com/photos/allan_nielsen/3847752459/
very nice, at this rate Kara's career is coming on well too !!
But yeah the f/1.2 bokeh is definitely something else :)
Turned out really well.
