Yes, this is somewhat processed as the original didn't have blown highlights, but I wanted to play around with a more summery feel.
This shot was taken during our portrait workshop today, as a demonstration of the nifty 50 (Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens). I decided to play with it a bit just for fun.

She is growing up! lovely portrait David I like the warmth.
Hello to Kara, quite a while no see ! I have the 1.4 version and quite like it sometimes !
definitely has a summery feel so that worked then !
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/sydney_inquisitive] Sure is Nic. Just a quick snap really, but turned out ok. Had to remove some water bottles from the table next to her though.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/33085391@N00] This is the first 50mm shot I've published in ummm... over a year (last one was 25th Sept 2009). It seems I don't use the 50mm focal length much anymore. Also been a while since I published a Kara shot too.
know what you mean ! I used mine the other day, camera on a tripod taking photos of all my familys old photos, back to our childhood days, so we all get copies, the albums can only be in one place at a time, as I'm the eldest that place is usually with me, like I need the clutter !! Other times - at weddings as its the fastest lens I have for dark places, evening receptions etc, but its definitely limited !
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/33085391@N00] Mine fell into disuse when I moved to full-frame. I found the framing at 50mm didn't do anything for me, whereas this shot is on the old 30D.
When I need fast glass, it's the 85/1.2L :)
Oh yes I forget about the full frame effect ! 85/1.2L, mmmmmmm, just as well I dont live near you, I'd be trying out your camera and lenses then mugging old ladies or something !! You are too big to mug , plus of course you are a friend, one doesn't mug ones friends !!!!

nice portrait and great job making it look summery!
Stunning shot David. Love the candid feel to this photo. Kara has very beautiful eyes.
Love the 50mm. Haven't used my 1.8 since i got the 1.4 but yeh don't use it that often really since i bought it. I think i liked the 1.8 better can't put my finger on why.
Lovely shot. She looks all grown up now.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/bumblebeephoto] Thanks!
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikesenior] I rarely use a 50mm at all. It's a focal length I just don't find greatly useful for most of my work, but occasionally it can work well.

This is a stunning portrait.
