Nope, manually exposed at f4 for 1/80 sec, iso1600 then a very small adjustment to the mid-range brightness in Lightroom.

Impressive.
Really draws one into the shot.
Good work.
David de Groot said: Thanks Ian - it's an impressive building (still not finished either, and they started it in 1906!)

That's really something. Thanks for putting it up!

Thanks :)
It's a pretty neat cathedral, well worth dropping in for a visit, and they don't seem to mind you just wandering about the place either.

Very well exposed. The brighter colours on the seats and aisle (I assume light coming through the stained glass windows?) look wonderful.
David de Groot said:
Sure are. There's a large, three pane stained glass window over the main entrance, which was in full sun at that time of day.

Wow, David, this is super-duper a w e s o m e! You must teach me how you did it and use easy words please. None of that technical stuff. Visual aid would help a lot. (o^^o)
I have faved and tagged your picture with BRAVO and this serves as an invitation to The Best: BRAVO.
David de Groot said: Oh that's easy Margot :)
a) find large cathedral
b) go inside
c) stand with stained glass windows behind you
d) use a really wide lens (Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm setting)
e) set your aperture to the widest it can go (in this case f/4)
f) set your ISO setting to 1600
g) set your expose to 1/80 of a second
h) aim and shoot
:)

Oh, thank you so much, David! I just got my 10-20mm Sigma lens, but the problem is, we don't have large Cathedral like that in Tokyo. :o( Well, I'll search for the biggest church in Tokyo this Sunday.
I've seen a really big futuristic kind of temple in Tokyo somewhere but it looks like more of a cult to me and I don't want to come out of it bald and penniless. (o^^o)

hehehe bald and penniless... yeah, not a good look that ;-)
I like the 10-20, there's something about really wide angles that are neat to shoot with.

Nice shot. I had a school group the last time I was there so no photo op like this.
David de Groot said: I've been fortunate every time I've gone in, only one other person in the cathedral.

The perspective and light are perfect!
David de Groot said:
Well maybe not quite perfect - it's a little harsh on the floor in the middle, but given the conditions and the need to hand-hold it, that's about as good as I could get.
Is this HDR?
