This blimp has been buzzing around the city for the last couple of days. I eventually gave in and decided to shoot it out my office window.
This is a fairly heavy crop, as the 50mm just doesn't have that much reach. White balance adjustments to compensate for the green office window glass were also made.

Seen on your photo stream. (?)
hehehe I can remember when they were both quite distinct companies ;-)
Nice one David, well executed with those compensating adjustments.
I saw it this afternoon but it had drifted off by the time i grabbed my camera.
If only I had my good old 50 cal. Mauser ...
I saw this flying on Friday, and was surprised it took so long for someone to post a photo of it onto flickr!
Good use of the rule of 1/3rds in the cropping.
Thanks All :)
Stephen, I saw it on Thursday but since I'd already shot it on a previous occasion, decided not to, but then by Friday I figured, I might as well.
Nice shot - impossible to tell you did all the manual adjustments on it :-)
Really only a white balance adjustment and a crop. Thanks :)
I can see your reflection on the window glass...heh
You're just teasing now Maria... I've spent a whole 2 minutes staring at that now and can't see me in the window glass! :-P
another great capture, we had one of these things buzzing around for the car races a year or so ago, sporting a goodyear or dunlop logo, never did get a shoot of it.
Thanks Jeffrey, yes I recall a goodyear one hanging around Indy on the Gold Coast a few years back (cripes! that was 10 years ago, how time flies).
Great job as always, David. The message says END...end of what I wonder. Also found this cool site: www.holdenairship.com/.
End of a 4 day sale apparently.
That's the one Margot - it's really a fairly impressive airship, shame it's only really used for advertising.
Yes David, there was a Good Year one around the year 1999-2000. But when the Olympics was on in Sydney they changed it from Goodyear to "G'day" on one side and "Good luck" on the other. We also had a Whitman's Chocolates blimp somewhere around the year 1997-1998. Both have been scraped now unfortunately.
I live in Adelaide and got to see the holden blimp back in march, I miss it now =) Well done on the pic!
ah time flies, David! (sorry mate, couldn't help meself)
They need to make a FJ shaped balloon!
Thanks Adam, yeah there's been a few blimps around now that you mention it.
*groan* I guess someone had to say it Jeffrey.
Now that would turn some heads Brian.
I was tempted to shoot it the other day too.. it was a very overcast afternoon the other day in brisbane and this thing was hanging about. The light was really weird.. the blimp hanging above and the mood gave a very doomsday/armageddon feel to it all.
I like this against the deep blue sky.
