Helped Kara with a photo for school tonight, and this is one of many we ended up with.
Very simple setup - two 580exII's at 1/8th power triggered by Cybersyncs, black card background, both flashes flagged to prevent spill onto the background. Pre-focus on expected drop-zone and then die dropped by assistant.

"a photo for school" ... wish I had that much fun at school. Nice one, Dave !
So was this Kara's work of Dads? Either way, nice work.
Cool image. How did you get the timing correct - trial and error or something more scientific?
Excellent idea. Great contrast.
Thats an awesome shot David. Have you got a setup photo of what you did? Where would i get a cybersync?
Super!
Nice David. Always wanted to have a go at this - but maybe one day

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnmleung] Yeah the only photos I took for school were for the school mag.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/allan_nielsen] A combined effort ;-)
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/ross_m] 10fps body ;-)
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikesenior] Nah, forgot to take a setup shot, but it was pretty simple. I'll see if I can draw one and post it here.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/robbiesmith] Quite easy Rob - lots of takes to get a decent shot though, unless you go all high-tech with laser triggers and the like.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/dadegroot] The flash recycles that quick as well??
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/ross_m] At 1/8th power with fresh batteries, yeah. Towards the end of the session they started to miss the last frame of a burst, but still performed well enough.
great movement here. well captured!

Excellent shot...
