Nice work Dave, very cool!
David de Groot said: Alas you're not allowed to take photos inside, which is a real shame as it's gorgeous. I could do some wonderful portrait sessions in there. very white ! I shot the Governor later during a speech, but she was standing in front of the building and under an awning, making for a difficult shooting environment.

David de Groot said: hahaha no dogs at all that I could see.
Quite a bit of history in this one too (well for us out here in the Colonies that is). Built in 1864 (I think) by a wealthy businessman (who soon became much less wealthy), then bought by an MLA and renovated 1872ish. He too ended up going bust, rented out a bit until the Government rented and later bought it for £10,000, whence it became the residence of the Governor of the colony (and later State).
No moles here (well ok, there's a blind desert mole, but that's way out back).

Brilliant color in the sky, and the white is beautiful. Well done David!

I saw the ad for this on TV and thought - "that looks like fun". However, my sister in law has had a baby and I spent the afternoon taking photos and having cuddles!
Nice shot and the blue sky is amazing.
David de Groot said: Yep, it's the birth of Queensland as a self-governing colony.
David de Groot said: Ah yes, babies take precedence over outings ;-)

Woah - love the composition, colours, that sky....fantastic
David de Groot said: No polariser either - just the lovely colour reproduction of the 5DII and 17-40L :)

Beautiful & very sharp David
(& I hope when you "shot" the Governor during her speach, it was "photographically shot", must admit I didn't notice anything in the news ....)
David de Groot said: hehehe well you know, a professional rarely makes a fuss ;-)

You must have been at the right elevation to capture this building such that the lens's axis was parallel to the ground.
David de Groot said: I did, of course, crop off the bottom ;-)

Very nice shot David... I really love all the perfectly vertical verticals here... heh heh... I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to correcting lens-distortion! :)
David de Groot said: No correction here Paul, just kept the lens level and then cropped off the spurious foreground grass :)
