Goanna at Mt Mee

We trundled up to Mt Mee this arvo to do some location scouting. At the Gantry picnic area there were many goannas (I counted at least 6, but really, you just had to turn around and there was another one).

Figuring this would be an interesting test for the lo-res video on the 5D2, I shot this short movie. (Didn't shoot full HD as I didn't want to fill the card with video).

    Yeah, I think there was a car idling in the carpark. I guess I should have turned sounds recording off, as it's not like goannas make much noise ;-)

    That's actually clearer than I expected somehow, even in a lower res (and probably squished further by flickr) - looks like it'll actually be useful for quick grabs.

    Yeah, the full HD movies are incredible to behold - although I need a screen with more resolution as my 20" only does 1680x1080 - not big enough for HD.
    I figure it'll be useful for those times when you just want a quick video grab of something.

    Wow David that is cool. I was reading about this on the Mkll and even the movie pros are turning to this camera to do a lot of there work. If only my treasurer would let me get one, o well i can only dream for now.

    Yeah it's definitely impressive, and the full HD video is something that has to be seen to be believed. You could easily take stills from it and print at 8x10.
