Nice - looks tranquil, smooth, and well exposed. I quite like long exposures of flowing water. Well done. Nice & sharp too. Gotta love tripods.

And not bad for the kit lens too eh ? :)

Superior shot, David! This looks like a beautiful place to sit and relax. I love the smoky look created by the long shutter speed.

Thanks Mark, it's definitely a lovely place to spend a nice warm summer afternoon (although on this particular day it was somewhat cool, and occasionally raining).

Thanks Helen, it sure is... and only a couple of minutes walk from home too :)

even better then !

Yep - still flowing yesterday too, although the levels are down a bit, but it was cool and wet so the kidlets had a play in there instead of going to the beach.
I was going to hit the seaside yesterday, kinda late in the arvo to get some long exposures of waves on rocks, but considering I'm back at work today, that wouldn't have worked out too well with getting dinner ready, baking bread and having a relatively early night.

You are such an industrious person, I dont do guilt trips, just as well really !!
Not enough hours in the day, days in the week are there !!

hehehe definitely not enough hours in the day. Although I think a lot of these little issues could easily be fixed with a very large cash injection ;-)

Thanks Brian, yep the rain was a welcome sight, hopefully we'll get a lot more.

Great shot David, and yes, the kit lens is better than it's bad rep!
did you have any ND filters, or was it dark enough that f22 gave you a good shutter speed?
David de Groot said:
I don't yet have any ND filters Mark, although I wouldn't mind an ND400 :)
Under the right conditions, the kit lens performs really quite well, but I've noticed outside of that it's far from ideal (but better than nothing, for sure).
Speedy_MSD said:
David, the ND400 is wonderful :-) and I use it a lot of the time on the kit lens too.
I guess the kit lens is helped in this sort of circumstance by being fully stopped down, it certainly seems to give better contrast.

Yeah the kit lens tends to work quite well if you stay within it's bounds. Avoid harsh backlighting, low light handheld is out too, and it's definitely not a portrait lens, but for what it does it's quite adequate :)
