Despite heavy water restrictions in Toowoomba, there are still flowers in Queen's Park. Apparently the groundskeepers have been steadily lowering water usage and using low water plants to maintain the gardens appeal.

a little sad they have to cut down on water usage.
I have this notion that public parks everywhere are allowed to use lots of water;-p
beautiful shot!!
I really like the stone mosaic thingy as well , looks a nice place to sit and think, or just sit !!
They've made a good job of it. The 'thingy' looks good too!

Seen in my contacts' photos. (?)
Maria, Toowoomba is on Level 5 water restrictions (the highest restriction level their council came up with), Brisbane is currently on Level 3 restrictions. Basically, there hasn't been enough rain falling on the water catchment areas in many years. Parks & Fountains are quite often the first to be restricted as the council(s) need to set an example to the populace. I think it's a compliment to the grounds-keepers that the parks still look green and have decent arrays of flowers in such conditions.
Helen / Nelly, yes the stone "thingy" was quite interesting. I have another shot showing it more fully around here someplace.
I agree -- a beautiful place to be.
Scary about the water shortage though, huh? I read about the world water shortage and it is enough to make me so thirsty.
It is indeed. Oh course there's usually plenty of rain out here, just falling in the wrong spots. Mostly on the coast, where there are no catchment areas. The water shortages in S.E. Qld are partly due to bad Govt. planning too. Many years ago household water tanks were banned by most of the local councils. Since then, the dams have had to take a greater water draw, and with the lessening of rain in the catchments we've ended up with dire water shortages.
Very little has been done about it until very recently.
